Happy 2nd Birthday Emilia! [Aug. 1st, 2007|09:20 am]

Today our little girl turns 2 yrs old.  I know it's common to say - but I really can't believe how fast time flies.  It seems like just yesterday she was still a wiggly little baby - and here she is today: jumping and dancing and singing and talking up a storm.

we've made it to 2yrs breastfeeding.  take that, silly 1 yr goal!  ha ha!  what was i ever thinking?  :)

a few questions... [May. 10th, 2007|08:17 pm]

So Madison will pretty much eat anything and everything....but I can't get her to eat any fruit. I cooked up some apples and sweet potato chunks together with cinnamon on it and she ate a few bites. She won't eat fruit that we cut up, she will drink smoothies with fruit in it though. Any other ideas to get some fruit into her diet? It would be so nice if we could just cut up some chunks of fruit and she could have them for a snack but that is a no go.

She had mushrooms on toast for breakfast this morning....

Also I see a few of you are expecting again (congratulations!) We are planning to start trying for baby #2 (and final baby) in 2 months and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on books for toddlers to introduce them to becoming a sibling. Just planning ahead here :)

and a pic of my little monkey because she is so cute!Collapse )

Toddler bed [May. 10th, 2007|09:46 am]

Hello! Long time no post here! I haven't been posting, but I have been reading!

I have a question about toddler beds... any of your little august babies out of their cribs and into toddler bed? If so, when did you make the transition?

If not, when do you plan to make the transition?

I'm starting to considering it, and I can't remember how old my stepdaughter was when we took her out of her crib - I think she was a few months short of 2 years.

And since it's been a while... a picture of my boy smiling for the camera...Collapse )

Hi, there! [Apr. 23rd, 2007|04:19 pm]

[Current Mood |amusedamused]

I haven't posted in here in, like, forever, so I just wanted to share some Jon stories and pictures. :)

LJ-cut for the download-challengedCollapse )

His favorite food right now is chicken pot pie (the recipe's on the Bisquick box. It's a snap.) He won't eat anything he can't eat, himself, with a fork. This means everything, even raisins, have to go on a fork.

No potty training, yet, although he is fascinated with flushing the toilet. That's a good sign, right?

We are well into the terrible twos. The tantrums have started in earnest. He gets mad, screams at the top of his lungs, even bangs his head on the floor. What's up with that?!?!

He is obsessed with anything that has wheels. When my husband's street-rod buddies get together, he could burst through a brick wall to get to them. He can hear those cars coming from blocks away and he runs to the door and screams "DADDY! VROOM, VROOM!!!"

I am thankful that he does go to bed, well. He's a good sleeper, unless his schedule is thrown off, like if we're traveling. But even traveling, he isn't too bad.

He can say a few words, and it seems like he learns a hundred every day! Just the other day, I went to put him to bed. I said, "Jon, say 'night-night!'" And he said, "No, SHOES!" Apparently, "shoes" is the opposite of "night-night" because you put your shoes on when it's time to get up and go!

I can't believe August is not really that far away! We're staring down "2" already! Can you believe that?

stats? [Apr. 23rd, 2007|02:20 pm]

Okay - almost DAILY I get a comment from a stranger re: Emilia's size.  I am aware that she is tall and thin - ("lean and mean" as we like to say!) but COME ON does everyone need to point it out to me?
"wow - she's skinny!  doesn't she like to eat?"
"what a tall girl! I can't believe she's not even 2!"
"what are you feeding her?"

So I inquire of you - fellow August 2005 Mommas, if you would be so kind as to share with me the height/weight of your child so I can be assured i do not have some scientific anomoly living with me.

for the record: Emilia was 23lbs, 10oz at her 18 month check up and was 34.75" tall.  I can only imagine she has grown taller as most of her 2T pants no longer fit her lengthwise.
also for the record: i am 5'10" and my husband is 6'3" - so i figured we'd have tall children ... :)  friends of ours IRL have a daughter 2 days younger than Emilia and Emilia TOWERS over their daughter - but my friend (the mom) is barely 5 feet tall - so what do you expect?

Toddler Socks [Apr. 9th, 2007|08:27 am]

Okay - weird question!
Emilia has become extremely picky in the past few days re: what she is wearing - requesting specific pants, shirts, shoes and most of all: socks.
For Valentines Day I found 2 pairs of socks at Target: monkeys w/ hearts and frogs w/ hearts - and if she's not wearing one of those, she screams bloody murder.  Granted - all we have are the TWO pairs of socks, so re-wearing for a week straight is not what I have in mind - and I'd like to find some more cute toddler socks with animals or flowers on them, but I'm not sure where to go.  I checked out Target again - but all they have are the multi-packs of colored or white socks - nothing with an animal  (at least in the toddler dept.).
Any ideas?  Sock weather is (hopefully) coming to an end here in NY soon - so I don't want to go too crazy buying socks, but I would like to see her wear something clean!  Ha ha!
