Okay - almost DAILY I get a comment from a stranger re: Emilia's size.  I am aware that she is tall and thin - ("lean and mean" as we like to say!) but COME ON does everyone need to point it out to me?
"wow - she's skinny!  doesn't she like to eat?"
"what a tall girl! I can't believe she's not even 2!"
"what are you feeding her?"

So I inquire of you - fellow August 2005 Mommas, if you would be so kind as to share with me the height/weight of your child so I can be assured i do not have some scientific anomoly living with me.

for the record: Emilia was 23lbs, 10oz at her 18 month check up and was 34.75" tall.  I can only imagine she has grown taller as most of her 2T pants no longer fit her lengthwise.
also for the record: i am 5'10" and my husband is 6'3" - so i figured we'd have tall children ... :)  friends of ours IRL have a daughter 2 days younger than Emilia and Emilia TOWERS over their daughter - but my friend (the mom) is barely 5 feet tall - so what do you expect?

Jonathan is 31" tall and ~35 pounds! He's a bruiser. I get comments about him every day about how he "looks like a linebacker" and blah, blah, blah. EVERYONE has to say something about it. Of course, he's built just like his older brother, who IS a linebacker, while his older sis is pixie-sized. (She got my tiny genes.)

whoa! 35lbs! he's a little truck!
yeah, i guess i just have to realize that people are always going to want to say SOMETHING about your kid - and not to take it too personally. it just gets really old really fast.

Yeah, it's annoying. But then, the people who are rude enough to point it out are the same ones who said idiotic things when I was pregnant (like, "so, are you having more or are you getting fixed?") so I try to remember that they're rude and have nothing better to think about. :)

that's hilarious. the best i got was "are you having twins?" and i was like "no" and they replied "ARE YOU SURE?"
gee thanks, i knew i was overweight when i was pregnant, but now you made me feel like poo. thanks!

Oh, nice! People can be so rude!!!

I think the absolute worst was when people (as in, PLURAL... more than one!) said things like "do you know what causes that?" Hello, some people want a lot of kids! I was tempted to make a tee0shirt with an arrow pointing to my belly and the words "NOT AN ACCIDENT" printed on it.

Oh, well. We'll laugh about it someday, right?

Emilia is the other way around!
she's wearing some 24 month shirts - but mostly still 18m. i think she's all leg! she's been in 2T/24 month pants since she was 15 months old. they are now getting too short on her so i'm probably going to buy some 3Ts to see how they look ...
thank god it's warm enough for shorts!

everyone always calls Maddie a minature! :) She is 29 inches, and 23 lbs. She still wears 12-18 month clothes. Everyone always comments on how she is too small to be walking around, and how small she is. She is just small, but I am 5'2" and hubby is 5'10" so I never really thought we were going to have tall kids anyway. It does get annoying when EVERYONE and their dog comments on it though. I do feed her, as a matter of fact she eats more then all the other kids we are around. *shrug*

the little girl i baby sit for is short and stout - she is 15 months old and still wearing 9-12m clothing! she's itty bitty - but built like a truck! she must weigh as much as Emilia does, if not more.
i can't believe that Emilia is 5 almost 6 inches taller than Maddie! whoa!

Taylor is 36" tall and 30 pounds. I always get the "she's huge" talk.. or people ask if she is 3.. I can feel your pain on the flip side! LOL

wow, she really is tall!!

molly was 33.5" and just shy of 23 lbs. at her 18 month checkup. i measured her at home recently and she was about 34" and she also weighs 26 lbs now (big gain in less than 2 months!). i am ALWAYS hearing about how tall she is, and people always think that she's older than she is. she also talks non-stop, so i guess that's probably another reason people think she's older.

i'm really short--almost 5'2"--and my husband is 6'2". i get a lot of comments about how she'll be bigger than me soon, which can get pretty annoying.

anyway, i'm not concerned about her size, though i am glad that she's gained some weight: she wears a 24 month or 2T clothing size because of her height, but due to her being so skinny, things would tend to hang off of her. she's starting to fill out now, finally. she eats like a horse, so it's about time!

incidentally, i've heard all over the place that breastfed babies tend to be slimmer, and she is still nursing quite a bit, so maybe that's another reason she's so slim.

oh, and, for what it's worth--molly has a little friend down the street who is four days older than her, and molly's at least a good 2 or 3 inches taller, and just bigger in general. but that little one is very roly-poly and round compared with molly's slenderness (is that a word? i'm a little tired, here...).

true: and a lot of pediatricians go by formula fed baby growth charts - not the WHO's growth chart for breastfed babies.
ie: our *OLD* (we switched recently) pediatrician was always harping on me b/c Emilia is "too skinny" and according to her chart Emilia was in the "off the charts" for height and in the 5% for weight! egads!
so i went home, looked at the WHO's growth chart for BF babies, and she is in the 95% for height and in the 50% for weight. gee - thanks for making me feel like crap, Dr. Knowitall. My baby is just fine!
so you're still nursing! awesome! us too. I'm also 4 months pregnant w/ #2 now, so i'm battling the sensitive nipples issue right now - especially since Emilia is popping out canines now. ugh!
